Dr. Sam Hazledine

As the internationally recognised advocate for doctor wellbeing and its importance to practice good medicine, Dr Sam Hazledine is passionate about the wellbeing of doctors and evolving how they live and work. He has successfully lobbied the World Medical Association to include doctor health and wellbeing in the Declaration of Geneva, medicine’s modern day Hippocratic Oath.

The Ernst & Young – Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Sir Peter Blake Leader is the founder and Managing Director of Australasia’s largest medical recruitment company, MedRecruit, the wealth management company for doctors MedCapital, and the wellbeing organisation MedWorld.

Sam trained at Otago Medical School and graduated as a doctor in 2003.

Chief Executive Officer

Richard Clark

As Chief Executive Officer, Richard leads the MedCapital team and is focused on the delivery of our financial services and achieving exceptional outcomes for all our Doctors.

Richard has a bachelor of business studies and experience in finance and property. He has worked in multiple advice roles and has previously established and run his own financial advice business.

Away from work Richard spends time in the outdoors with family or exercising to keep fit.

Country Managers

Jon Collier

Jon is MedCapital’s primary New Zealand Private Wealth Manager, based in Auckland.

Jon has extensive experience across Wealth Management as not only a financial adviser, but management consultant to the financial advice industry. Jon provides best practice advice to his clients from assessing their needs through to implementing sound financial management solutions.

As a Private Wealth Manager, Jon has a keen appreciation of how good financial advice can significantly improve the quality of lives and takes great satisfaction from making positive differences to those of his clients.

Jon and his wife have two young daughters who happily take up most of their time. Together, they can be found travelling around New Zealand and beyond as time permits. When not following New Zealand across major sporting codes, Jon enjoys playing football and socialising over good food and wine.

Cathy Mackey

Cathy Mackey

Cathy is MedCapital’s Head of Advice (AU), based on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Cathy has extensive Leadership experience in Wealth Management and as a Business Leader, Cathy works closely with her team to enhance the wellbeing of our Doctors by providing exceptional financial advice and outcomes.

Cathy enjoys spending time with her family, loves a good crime novel, visiting new restaurants and socialising over good food and wine with friends.

Malcolm Strain

Based in Sydney, NSW, Malcolm joined the MedCapital team in early 2016 with a strong background in financial services gained in the insurance industry. Malcolm’s career started with the completion of his Accounting Degree and CPA qualifications and saw him work in a variety of roles.

At MedCapital Malcolm is passionate about employing his financial services knowledge to help our doctor’s grow and achieve their financial goals. He takes a leading role in identifying doctors key issues and objectives, working together with them and the MedCapital team to develop an Exceptional Wealth Plan to achieve their desired outcomes.

When not getting clients finances on track, Malcolm enjoys an active outdoors lifestyle, coaching his son’s soccer team, hiking, skiing or when the need for speed kicks in, pushing his motorbike around the track or along some of the nice twisty roads surrounding Sydney.

Bonard Metahysa

Bonard is a Private Wealth Manager based in Auckland. Bonard is experienced in the Wealth Management industry having serviced a wide variety of clients through his work at large financial organisations and boutique financial planning firms.

Bonard is passionate about making a positive difference to his clients, always placing their best interest first, and helping them achieve their financial and lifestyle goals.

Away from work Bonard enjoys going to the gym, keeping fit and healthy and spending time with his friends and family. In addition to his Financial Planning qualifications, he also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and an Honour’s Degree in Philosophy. He speaks three languages and enjoys interacting with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

David Robinson

David is a Private Wealth Manager based in Tauranga. He is an Authorised Financial Adviser with extensive experience in Financial Services working for large corporates and a boutique franchise operation in New Zealand.

As a Private Wealth Manager David is passionate about providing long term solutions for clients financial goals and protecting their financial future.

Outside of work David enjoys time with his wife and two children, engaging in his Rotary Club’s activities, and the occasional game of soccer.

Andy Hyland

Andy Hyland

Andy is a Private Wealth Manager based in Queenstown. He is an Authorised Financial Adviser with diverse experience in Wealth Management, having worked for a large corporate as well as smaller boutique firms.  He has as a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Personal Financial Planning) from Massey University and a BSc and Graduate Diploma in Business from the University of Canterbury.

Andy specialises in building trusted, long-term partnerships with his clients, helping them with practical assistance in all aspects of money management.

Whether you’ve never managed your household finances and don’t know where to start, or you’d simply appreciate a trusted partner to help you make the right decisions, Andy will take the time to understand your unique situation and work with you every step of the way.

Outside of work, Andy enjoys time with family and friends and exploring Central Otago by skiing, mountain biking, trail running, and surfing.

Colby Atkinson

Colby is a Private Wealth Manager based on the Gold Coast. He has experience in providing holistic financial advice to a diverse range of clients. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University, majoring in Accounting and Financial Planning.

Colby is committed to helping clients achieve their financial and lifestyle goals. By gaining an in depth understanding of his client’s unique circumstances, he’s able to deliver a tailored, quality and reliable service.

Outside of the office Colby enjoys all things sport, whether it be as a player or spectator, and spending time with his friends and family.

Lauchie Campbell

Lauchie is the Head of Investments and a Senior Private Wealth Manager based in Auckland.

Lauchie has been involved with Private Wealth businesses for more than 15 years, working in a variety of roles for large corporates and a boutique funds management firm. He has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment and, through the Yale School of Management, he has completed an Executive Education course in Investment Management Theory & Practice.

Lauchie is passionate about client outcomes and he enjoys working with clients to understand their financial and lifestyle goals to achieve the right outcomes. He focuses on ensuring they have confidence in both the level of protection they in place and the extent of the opportunity for the growth of their wealth; ultimately, so they can focus on enjoying the things that matter to them.

Lauchie is kept busy outside of work spending time with his family; in particular, his two young daughters keep him on his toes. Then, and as much as time allows with small children, Lauchie also enjoys running (when he’s not injured) and the rare opportunity for a game of golf.

Tax Managers

Paul Dignan

Paul is our Tax Manager on the Gold Coast and is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA). Paul’s expert knowledge comes from his success in the start-up and growth of two public accounting firms.

Working alongside our team of Private Wealth Managers, Paul and his tax team have direct insight into doctors plans and aspirations, allowing them to work with you to achieve improved tax outcomes.

Beyond work you will find Paul on the golf course playing or practising his chipping. The Gold Coast lifestyle also includes days for swimming, fishing and good dining.
