Dr. Sam Hazledine
As the internationally recognised advocate for doctor wellbeing and its importance to practice good medicine, Dr Sam Hazledine is passionate about the wellbeing of doctors and evolving how they live and work. He has successfully lobbied the World Medical Association to include doctor health and wellbeing in the Declaration of Geneva, medicine’s modern day Hippocratic Oath.
The Ernst & Young – Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Sir Peter Blake Leader is the founder and Managing Director of Australasia’s largest medical recruitment company, MedRecruit, the wealth management company for doctors MedCapital, and the wellbeing organisation MedWorld.
Sam trained at Otago Medical School and graduated as a doctor in 2003.
David is the founder of multiple successful financial services and accounting firms. He is a genius when it comes to finance and wealth.
David has seen that an integrated approach to wealth is critical to achieving financial independence and knows that with an holistic approach to wealth doctors can achieve financial independence safely and responsibly.
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer, Richard leads the MedCapital team and is focused on the delivery of our financial services and achieving exceptional outcomes for all our Doctors.
Richard has a bachelor of business studies and experience in finance and property. He has worked in multiple advice roles and has previously established and run his own financial advice business.
Away from work Richard spends time in the outdoors with family or exercising to keep fit.
Private Wealth Managers
Jon is MedCapital’s primary New Zealand Private Wealth Manager, based in Auckland.
Jon has extensive experience across Wealth Management as not only a financial adviser, but management consultant to the financial advice industry. Jon provides best practice advice to his clients from assessing their needs through to implementing sound financial management solutions.
As a Private Wealth Manager, Jon has a keen appreciation of how good financial advice can significantly improve the quality of lives and takes great satisfaction from making positive differences to those of his clients.
Jon and his wife have two young daughters who happily take up most of their time. Together, they can be found travelling around New Zealand and beyond as time permits. When not following New Zealand across major sporting codes, Jon enjoys playing football and socialising over good food and wine.
Based in Sydney, NSW, Malcolm is MedCapital’s leading Australian Private Wealth Manager. Malcolm joined the MedCapital team in early 2016 with a strong background in financial services gained in the insurance industry. Malcolm’s career started with the completion of his Accounting Degree and CPA qualifications and saw him work in a variety of roles.
At MedCapital Malcolm is passionate about employing his financial services knowledge to help our doctor’s grow and achieve their financial goals. He takes a leading role in identifying doctors key issues and objectives, working together with them and the MedCapital team to develop an Exceptional Wealth Plan to achieve their desired outcomes.
When not getting clients finances on track, Malcolm enjoys an active outdoors lifestyle, coaching his son’s soccer team, hiking, skiing or when the need for speed kicks in, pushing his motorbike around the track or along some of the nice twisty roads surrounding Sydney.
James is a New Zealand Private Wealth Manager based in Christchurch. His experience in the Wealth Management industry includes practicing as both a financial adviser and as an Investment Analyst. James is experienced in assessing his clients’ needs and goals, then providing advice on the best strategy to achieve these goals through thorough and exceptional investment analysis.
As well as being an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA), James has achieved level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification and aims to achieve the final two levels in the coming years. Once James has achieved the CFA qualification this will put him in a unique position of being one of only a few advisers in New Zealand having both achieved AFA and CFA status.
When he isn’t working or studying, James enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. They all enjoy the New Zealand outdoors, and can often be found camping and tramping around remote parts of the South Island. James can also be found playing football with his kids and shooting his rifle.
